Orient Express Bk files 2.5 bln rbl suit against Baring Vostok
MOSCOW, Dec 6 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Orient Express Bank has filed a 2.5 billion ruble civil suit seeking compensation from the Baring Vostok in a swindling case, Dmitry Kletochkin, lawyer of the fund’s founder Michael Calvey, told PRIME on Friday.
“The civil suit was submitted on February 19, 2019 under a criminal case by a representative of Bank Orient Express. We learnt about it only from the materials on arrest of property and accounts of Michael Calvey,” he said.
On Wednesday, the Moscow City Court lifted arrest from the apartments owned by Calvey, but prolonged arrest of money on his two accounts totaling about 7.5 million rubles.
In February, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow arrested Calvey and five other defendants for two months over an alleged 2.5 billion ruble embezzlement from Orient Express Bank. In April, Calvey was released under house arrest.
